Hi guys, I haven't been to a bmx race for quite a while now.
My question is: At a modern day race do people still compete on old school beasts or do they only race modern type bikes ?? Are newies really any better than oldies ??

Cheers

Light years apart Burgo.
I have a retro Quadangle and even thats a far cry from an old school Quad. The new PK Rippers are the same. And thats just the retro models. I'm sure Phil will tell you how much better newschool bikes are. They are. But I don't race and prefer the old school bikes. I ride all my bikes.
There is a retro race series in NSW running this month I think.
The old school series is going all around Australia.
Where abouts are you Burgo? I guess your in Sydney somewhere?

Australias biggest Quicksilver collector is in Newcastle. Pete Porker/Cooper is also the lead in the Band "The POrkers". Richie (the owner of this site) is not far from you too.
Retro Racing is gonna take off this year.
I built my bike and she's reading for retro racin up here in QLD.

New bikes are heaps better geometry wise. But nothing can beat the atmosphere of BMX from the 80's. The tracks are much better now too if you like jumping big and getting half killed when you crash!!! Shocked
Maitland and Terrigal are still running up your way mate. If you go to www.bmxnsw.com.au you can look up the tracks and find their calendars etc.
