Axle 1..

Axle 2..

Cones from front Axle..

Freewheel 1..

Freewheel 2..

So I am guessing I am off to the LBS come pay day to get more parts *gulp*

Now with these Hubs, the front just had loose bearings, back had caged bearings (but they all fell out when I removed the axle) could I possibly get away with some sealed bearings or would that require a whole new set of hubs?

No you will have to get loose balls for it. You can still buy caged bearings but I prefer loose. Just buy a few extra to whats in the cages.
Those cones are cactus! definately need them.
Try looking at the local tip too. I usually find a heap of wheels at the tip.

also check the ball cups the cones look bad as hell.... the ball cups might be pitted too, looks like it was run loose or crunchy for a fair while m8.
If the cups are pitted u may be able to get replacements from a doner hub or bikeshop.

OK noob question.. how does one remove the cups from hubs?

I cant feel any obvious pitting using the ball point pen trick, but the edges of the cups seem to have some wear on them.

Also in regards to going to the local tip, we only have waste transfer stations down here.

mmm some cups come out easily with a knock from the other side. BUT they might not come out. maybe a shop could look at them and tell you. I'd hate to see your hubs gettin wrecked.
Our tip is a transfer station too (a bloody big one) and they have a market attached. Some do.

ATM i have a few options.

A. Take wheels to LBS, ask them for a quote for them to fix up.
B. Take wheels to LBS, ask them for a quote for just the parts (cups, bearings, axle etc).
C. Look out for some other wheels, which will most likely inherit more issues regarding the crank sprocket an chain I currently have (issue being will need new ones).

Put replacement cones on. If they dont screw on the current axles, replace axles too. Replace bearings too.

Use the hub parts from the 1 or 2 wheels you will pick up below

Any other little pieces you need you might get someone on here to send you in an envelope. Just call out.

Hey All,

Long time, Now I need some help Cheesy

I would love to get these wheels going again but currently do not have the time to strip them down and rebuild them. I was wondering If there a shop would be able to do so? and for what sort of price range?

So what are you up to with the hubs?
Were you able to get replacement bearings and cones and axles?
