Well mabey not Dirty lol & no I didnt own hardly any of these bikes except No# 1

I was racking my brain to come up 12 BMX's that influence me in the 80's, now please understand I didn't race so did not no about some of the bikes back then, SE, Cobra, Skyway etc.

I didnt get 12 as I know a lot of kids had modified dragsters etc.

1/ Quicksilver - of course
2/ Repco - Monoshock
3/ Repco - Hotfoot
4/ Dimondback - Viper
5/ Redline - MX11
6/ Mongoose - Standard
7/ Mongoose - Supergoose
8/ Malvern Star - They were everywhere after TV commercials

Thats as far as my memory lets me go, how about u guys.

i wasn't influenced so much by bikes it was more the US magazines of the time. one particular advertisement was the picture of the CYC Ames Stormer done with shimano gear. i still love the look of that bike now.
the May 1980 edition of BMXaction was pretty much a turning point for me. it had the Stu Thomsen profile when he went to redline. at the time i had my Quicksilver which was never raced at an organised event. that bike went through quite a few different configurations until i was able to afford a proline. this happened around November 1981, by February 1982 i had a chrome proline-II frameset, which similarly to the Quicky went through many different configurations

the very first straight tube proper bmx bike i ever saw, was i think, an Amaroo. at the time all of us were riding around on dragsters done up with old steel double clamp stems and motorbike handlebars, so to see an actual straight tube bmx bike was quite astonishing at the time (around 1978). so i guess i had 5 bikes which had some sort of influence on me.

1) dragsters modified
2) amaroo bmx
3) CYC Ames stormer
4) quicksilver
5) redline proline
