you may have seen this on OZ, you might not have, so here it is.
i had every intention of doing this one the same as an old pic my mum found from 1982, but i got a bit side tracked to how i wanted the final bike to look like so i went for how it was when i raced it in 1983 in Darwin.

the 1981 frame was a bit survivorish as it had a very squashed brake bridge, rough dropouts and cracked chrome here and there. so, i had the brake bridge and rear drops repaired in Melbourne and then the frame and fork were sent to Newcastle for a re-chrome. huge thanks to "mr proline" for helping me out with the logistics. (i live in central QLD which makes it a bit tough to do stuff sometimes)

re-chromed

and then home for a nice set of decals i had made a few years back

this is where my plan changed. it sat around for a couple of months after i lost a bit of interest. i sold a 1984 PL-20 frame/fork to a member here, which had my lovely araya/bullseye wheel set on it. this wheel set was way to cool not to use so i decided that was the way i wanted to go. this also meant the shimano 600's i had planned weren't going on either (these were used in 1982) so i had a set of half wraps that i had lying around and would do until i find a set of 175mm 401's (and when the missus gets over me buying Black's PK LOL)

Anzac morning i got up reasonably early and paid tribute to our fallen, then wandered down the shed. first up was de-annoing a faded brute stem and tange seat post clamp. a bit of a rub with the coarse mop on the bench polisher and assembly of the bike. here it is probably 90% correct to how it was back in 1983. big thanks to Gnarley for the awesome number plate, thanks mate.

Really cool bike Allen. Looks a million bucks. I'll get me a Proline one day. Just waiting for one to show up at the tip.

WOW!
Dying to know. How did they repair the dropouts?

Yeah that plate is awesome.
The 'Gnarley Plate' almost sounds 1981 too.
