Been doing some research on the hollow 1 piece cranks from the 80s, SR Turbox, Thun etc. Some sources say they are strong as anything. My one experience with the SR ones are they bend easy peazy. Anyone else have experience with these cranks? They look great but am unsure if they are any good.
Whilst Im at it what would the best crank be? I had a 178mm Sugino crank that I couldnt bend. Ive seen a lot of Takagi bent ones although I never bent the Takagi crmo ones personally. Lets here your views.

I have seen bent hollow ones as in the SR tubulars in fact i believe they are reknowned for bending...the Takagi cromo's seemed to bend for me where as the Takagi MX cranks seemed the stronger ones and i never bent a set Smiley The Kuwahara cranks one piece that is with the triangular shaped arms sukked cos they bent np's and the normal SR's seemed to be the same; the Sugino one piecers seemed ok but i didnt run them much mainly due to liking Takagi MX's too much.
My opinion on em Smiley

So hollow 1piece cranks kinda sucked.
I wouldve rated TakagiMX below Takagi crmo but sounds like the MXs were stronger.
Another factor might be length. 180s have more leverage than 170s so probably will bend more.
Funny theres a famous BMX cover shot of Leary doing a Leary and you can see his cranks really  bent.
Anyone else rate the Suginos?

Suginos are great too. Takagi and Sugino are the only two I would buy. I have some mini 165's from SR that are pretty cool too.

The triangular shaped cranks sound like the ones called Excalibers. They were supposed to be super strong. I didnt get a chance to use em bitd. The modern versions look ok.
