When Ads took frame to the blasters they blew holes in the matchbox thingy behind the BB and the top and main tubes.  The tubes were also dented.  A cromo Mongoose (well they are crap bikes, but made of good steel) sacrificed some metal to replace the paper thin part of the matchbox which was silver brazed in.  (There is a small dag of silver braze inside the match box).  This part was slightly twisted as well so we had to straighten it and reshape the holes.  They are not perfect, however we have gone from an ugly piece of holy crap to a shiney orange frame that looks most presentable and I think will look very good once Ads has put it all together.  The dents and holes in the tubes were also silver brazed, rather than welding which wouldn't be as strong on cromoly.  The larger dents had a  tiny hole drilled through them so the braze would run through and be stronger.  Some automotive filler was wiped over the filed repairs, the frame was then coated in epoxy and sanded.  Then it was primed and painted in 'Burn ya retinas Orange' 2 pack by a spray painter friend who has painted a few bikes for me. Just needs to get to the other side of the state so Ads can start putting it together. It's not a perfect concourse resto, it is a great rider frame that looks bright and loud and should be plenty strong enough too. It was a lot more work than we thought at first, but I think well worth it to get a DB rolling again, not sure I'd put that much effort into a cyclops from K-Mart!
cheers Tim

It is good to try and fix stuff that would otherwise be thrown out, but a cyclops old school might be ok was refewring to the rubbish they sell these days.  Good to have a crack at fixing something nice and seeing it turn out ok.
