Im about 90% sure Ive got an Aero but am unsure of the year. Ive seen plentyof the single gusset Prosights but none of these. Teardrop tubing. Forks are goose copies. These may have had ARXs as standard.

Hard to keep the front down-she loops to easily-maybe the high BB with those forks doesnt help. Especially after riding anything new school.
ANy ideas on the year?

Mate, no sure if this will help you, the bike below is a 1980 ProSight. All 79/80/81 ProSights were the same (note none had a gusset)

Cheers Warren

Hey Waz been doing some research

Pretty sure they have small boomerang gussets, similar to the Hot Heart, Shimano and Suparoo

The bottom pic shows it.

The frames changed in approx 1984/1985

There seem to be 2 different combo's of serial numbers....six digit or the Tange version....T3####

Good info here. Those pics are of the common Prosight everyone sees and was in the BMXA ads. Mine has a 6 dig serial. So can we assume the 6 digit serials were pre Tange & made by Hatori? or vice versa?

Thats the one.
Ill check my serial number.
Mine has a couple a holes in the dropout plus a small hole for fitting a 'whale tale' chain adjuster.
Oh yeah in the first post 202333-I double checked and its 202313.
Makes me think there were only very few made/sold.
9.8 kgs?  doubt it(maybe with alloy cranks and skyway pedals and UNi seat it would get close) Smiley

I believe that ad was out of a local bmx mag in the 80s.

Grin yep that's it....old ad.....My friend was a tall rider and was spono'd by prosight....as he was over 6 foot they decided to let him race a prototype frame that was longer for the taller rider and light for back then....it was lighter than my Patterson. It got stolen after a practice night at Bennleigh track. My friend lost his spono'. Never saw it again...until i found this frame years later, and didn't know what it was until i found that old ad. My friend has i.d'd the frame, but it's the production model of his proto type. He was hoping it was his original one...

More good info.
Post some pics of yours.
So sounds like the boomerang gusset Prosights were 79-81 and the Aero model was 1982??
What year did your friend get the prototype?

Let's see....toppy was a fast kid, 82ish he got the bike late in the year cause it was used by other team members before toppy got it. They did a bit of testing with this thing and we lost it. opppps! He rode it for a couple of seasons, before someone stole it in 84'.
