I remember racing there once in the pouring rain. I rode from Windsor with a bunch of mates. I was beating some Factory JMC dude until my rear tire slipped.

I love the first turn photos Billy, it was a good little jump down into the first turn. I remember the state titles there when it belted down with rain all weekend. I came into the first turn and slid right of thetop and down the other side. Great fun!!!

my only time at Hickey's lane was a good one..but the best thing i remember was a young upstart 16 yr old by the name of Russ Robiel.. It was his first race in Money and i remember his initiation was Tim Ward putting him over onne of the berms...lol.it was the funniest thing i ever saw...legs in the air...with nowhere to go...."welcome to the big boys Russ"

hahaha It was probably Phil. I'll leave it at that.
I liked the track though. Would of been a great place if it wasn't raining.

Guys, we lost some photos from the great crash of 09. If you put some in and they are not here anymore, feel free to add them again.

Thanks
Phil

i was talking to a guy today about hickeys lane and he was saying the track is pretty shot but the start gate is still there,i would of gone and had a look myself today but i was on my way home. i was thinking of petitioning the penrith council to have this track re-opened and put back to good use. i think it is such a shame that this track sits there going to waste, being such a well known track(bmx bandits fame). if i can manage to get the council to come to the party with helping on this matter,i was going to put the feelers out now if there would be anyone out there with machinery such as bobcats and so-forth and manpower to boot if you would possibly be willing to help out as it would sound alot better telling the council they dont have to do everything and that there is reknewed interest in getting this thing up and running again to hold events, and maybe let them know of such things as retro racing. i just think that it would be so cool, rad and just downright fantastic to have this oldschool track running old school races again oldschool style. dont get me wrong the track at st marys is decent, but just think of the memories that would come back to some of you older guys that actually raced there, to be racing there again.

It would be great to see the track running again. I am too far away to help out but I think Phil needs something to do in his spare time! Smiley
Seriously though I think the council might give it a go. You never know if you don't ask.
