Hi guys , I was wondering if anybody can give me with some information about my Quickie ( year etc ) . I little I do know is that I bought this bike around 1980 - 81 if memory serves me well . I have just pulled it apart so I can give it a second life . I still have all the original parts including tuffs and mx parts etc . It also still is the original colour of yellow . There are no numbers but does have Quicksilver , mx and tuff stickers . Also has a Everything bicycles Liverpool sticker . I hope the images work out to help . Cheers Mike .

Welcome to the site. That is a nice little bike that you have there. What is the serial number as this will help with identification?

Cheers

Its a 78 or a 79, the serial number should be lightly stamped on  underneath side matchbox behind the bottom bracket. Some early ones did not have stamping, so it could be 78.
I have a few quickies, let me know via a pm if your keen on selling it, other wise I can point u in the right direction for resto bit n bobs.
Oh, welcome to the site.

Troyboy thanks for your reply , with all the research I have done I'm assuming its a 78 model as it has no numbers and co-insides with the date I bought it and how old it was then . This was me first BMX so for now its going to go straight to the pool room . As for a resto job any tips are welcome . A couple of pointers on which way I should go - powder coat or spray , secondly stickers and pads I will need . I will give you a call when i get to the next step . And if the wife ever makes me sell it you will be the first I call . Cheers . Also have my second bike a GT from the late 80's in near mint condition as well .

I would go powdercoat.
This is the best bike powder coater in the country, & a bike rider too.
He will match your paint to a tee.

As for pads & decals,
Pete (Porker) Cooper in Newcastle is your man.
He now own the Competition Development name (makers of Quicksilver) & does the pads, decals & is a walking encyclopedia on them.
Here's his email
petesoundsystem@gmail.com

I'm sending u a PM (personal message)

Would say that it is a type 1A Quicksilver and fairly rare. As Troy said, you may need to sand off the pain from the matchbox to find the number. And Troy doesn't need it, so you can sell it to me!!!

If you have the forks-they were mainly Tange tx1200 or the crmo TX500 -check the fork stem for a date stamp This might help with the year. Or you may need to scrape some paint off to reveal the serial number. Build it up Quick. Wink

Yeh, most likely the 500's but the serial on those should help, then again if its a 78 it could have Ashtabula or Early Mongoose forks on it as well.

Phil, you just keep looking for that UFO & leave the quickies to me lol.
