I got a Torker because twin tube = instant street cred, or just cos i like em.
Not wanting to do a completely og resto; just make a nice rider.
Anyway the forks are haro and take a normal sized axle, however the rear dropouts are for a 14mm.
Dumb Question 1. Did bikes come out with different sized axles front and back? Or are the haro forks the cause and I should get some that take a 14mm front?
Dumb Question 2. It has a front loading GT stem, any idea what OG would be?
Dumb Question 3. Any idea what sort of gyro would have been on it?
Dumb Question 4. I already asked this elsewhere, paint it or rechrome?

Help hehe.

cheers Tim

I play with mid school bikes all the time-cant seem to afford old school!
Anyway if you dont have 14mm wheels dont worry about the 14mm rear dropouts. You can easily fit smaller axles in them using adapters. Ive seen Torker Under loading stems and also top loading stems on those Torkers. For a rider that GT stem is perfect.
For a rider may not be worth rechome just give it an acid bath and then polish the frame up a bit.
As long as you do a bit of a seach on the forums first noone will think questions are dumb.
Love the Chicago look!

Theres a kid getting round town here with one of these that I'd guess would be as it came from the bike shop. It's not chrome but a metalic bronze sort of colour. next time I see him I'll check out what stem, forks etc.
they sure look different
Go the twin tubes!!

Thanks B rett and GTHO, I think I'll paint it in that case, chrome would probably clean up good but i like paint.
I was thinking of a purple and blue colour scheme. I have  144 mm front wheel but no back, but could find one im sure.
It would be great if you can check that kids bike out made, then mug him and steal if for me Smiley

timmae, see pics but in short ....
Q1. yes, 10mm on front and 14mm on back.
Q2. front loading torker, likes a bit like the barrel like gt stem. threadless 1 and 1/8
Q3. oh sh#t didnt look at that, they all look the same to me anyway. The headset is
a "A  headset" if that helps
Q4. i like chrome, its nice and shiny

Sorry about photo quality but only had my phone on me when I saw him. Found out from the kid that this bike is actually his dad's and he cant remember any part of it ever being replaced. It turns out when i got talking to him that they used to live right behind me so i know his mum and dad.... the joys of a small town.
Check out the crazy looking scallop out of the forks. the forks, bars and stem are all stamped with the torker "T". the stickers on this one say kickback not vagabond. The kid got a real kick out someone showing an interest in his bike, chest puffed out with pride and all.

Kickback is the Australian name for vagabond apparently, same except for stickers I believe unless anyone knows different, thanls for the help, red is looking good for a colour.
