I always forget which way to turn somethin so I thought Id get it down in writing. Axles, bottom brackets, etc Hope we all can add to this and refer to it when needed. Heres somethin to start us off.

1 piece cranks have a left hand thread on both sides.

Non drive side pedal is left hand thread.

The freewheel/clutch cover(usually has 2 pin holes on it) on ACS, Dicta etc have a left hand thread.

A lot of axle nuts that are for coaster brake hubs have a tiny little stamp on the flange. Normal axle nuts do not.

Campagnolo axles are 9mm and 10mm by 26tpi. Very hard to find.

old school seat tubes are 22.2mm or 13/16" (pk rippers)

Most axles for bmx are 3/8inch by 26tpi.
Coaster axles are 24 tpi. These nuts are often stamped on the flange.
If your axle is  really really tight in the drops it might be a 10mm axle(slightly bigger than a 3/8 axle). These are usually shimano.

Another freewheel tip.
The dustcover always tightens against the spin. So if you hold the outside by the teeth you can tighten the dustcover. To loosen it you must hold the inside of the freewheel.
I found this out recently as some dustcovers are on the opposite side.
Ive restored more than 10 freewheels now just by dismantling, cleaning and tightening the spring.
Eazy Peazy.

Awesome Info GTHO. Refurbing old freewheels is what I'll be doing now.

Dismantle them over a container to catch all those ballbearings. I mainly restore those Suntour freeweels that are stamped BMX. Im about to see if I can transplant a Dicta outer onto a Suntour body. Ill let you know if it works.
