We had a thread here (before the big crash) on using Citric Acid to clean rust off frames etc, so 2 months ago I bought 2 x 1 kg containers of the (crystal) stuff from a pool supplier. They use it to clean scum off pools. This I used on Saturday with a Hotfoot frame I picked up on friday & a set of skyway bars (I think they are) & today 99% of rust gone.
I put in 25ltrs of water( first 2 buckets were hot )
The acid I didn't reserch for price & cost me $24.00 from the first pool shop I drove past. Since then i know a guy that can get it for me wholesale.
It apperantly should be mixed about 10-1 but I stuck a extra 5 lts of water in to cover the bars.
Heres the up side, doesn't burn your hands ( I did wash them within a minute or 2 of having my hands in there.
Good for the enviroment as it is Concentated Citric.
I have now stuck a real bad set of Asku forks in to see what result that gives me.

Sorry there was no before pics.

I stuck this one in now with another 20ltrs of water as its a tad bigger in the frame & the water didn't cover the drop outs. Might need another kg of crystals, the experiment continues.

This 1 went in yesterday at 2.30pm & I took it out at 10.00 this morning. Not too bad for less than 24hours & there was that extra 20ltrs of water I stuck with it.

Lets ramp it up boys.
These are off my race bike. Yes it is true I only have 1 set of 24"
U think someone (PK) would have a spare set they could sell me cause these are massive & heavy.

These are off the 24" too, will only need a day I recon.

These are off my 85 FST
