I got bored today and thought I would weigh my bare Mongoose frames, so here is the result.

1. 2/80 Motomag frame     = 2.823 kg
2. 5/81 Mongoose II frame = 2.829 kg
3. 10/80 Team frame        = 2.576 kg
4. 2/81 Supergoose frame = 2.551 kg

oh yeah I threw my 600a redline frame on = 2.294 kg Roll Eyes

Hope this helps someone Wink

I wonder if the painted frames were much different in weight, im not sure if they were all nickel plated and then painted or not. I should imagine there would only be a poofteenth in it anyway. So what was the lightest frame BITD? (any bike full size 20")

Thank Mate, just got to polish the other nickel frame and I can put em back together!!

I'm not to sure either, I know that Schwinn where always trying to claim it with their Sting bike. I reckon a PK Ripper would have a good shot at it (anyone had one on the scales?), what about a Quicksilver Helium? did that really work?

The helium was used so they could use thinner tubing on the frame. Not for weight loss.
Looks like my Supergoose came in pretty good.
I'would imagine the PK or Race Inc would be pretty light. Compared to a goose anyway.

If we can believe the ads placed in BMXA and BMX Plus! the Pro size Hutch and Profile frames were under 4 lbs (1.81 kg) Ah damn, was just outbid on the bike I raced-I couldve weighed the Smax CrMo to compare. Id be interested to see if the Redline weighed more than the copy.

put your SLA on the scales Glenn and we may have a winner.

my 1983 GT pro weighs bugger all compared to my PL's and team goose but i reckon it would be way more fragile.
