Restoration .........

Hey guys.
Just joined up and must say .......... WOW! Weren't they great days and haven't the memories started flooding back.
Been tossing up the idea of restoring a couple of old, shed kept, cobweb riddled JMCs (1 D.Young/1 Cruiser) for some time and after seeing some of the piccies on here I am jumping into it!
It's going to have to start at the very beginning ..... but where to start? I've had a look at plenty of threads here but still just trying to get my head around the process .... (dumb I know)
Any help appreciated and well done to everyone here, brilliant.
AJ

Hey AJ welcome to the site and glad that you like it. First off mate, pick your frames and forks and start getting them up to speed. Whilst in that process, you can start looking at what you want toput on them and writing your wish list and then start working on getting them. Plenty of sites to help get your parts with Ebay,
www.bmxmuseum.com
www.vintagebmx.com
Have fun and spend wisely!!!
Cheers

Hi AJ,
welcome to the site, once you start you will be hooked like the rest of us, I only started a few months ago after finding this site, so far I'm up to five builds and half way through the sixth one
Don't hesitate to ask any of the guys for help or advice, when it comes to getting started believe me there are no dumb question, if there was I would be the king of dumb questions
Cheers Warren (aka prosight)

You do know Jim Melton is on Facebook too? I'm sure he'd be happy to see you.

WOW ... thanks for the support guys!
Like it or not you'll all be a part of this restoration experience somehow!!!! There will be a tonne of questions, I apologize in advance. Everything BMX will be piled in the spare room this Monday ... and the summer project will begin then.
re: Jimmy Melton. My folks were in the US last year and drove out to see him in Sth Nowhere, USA. Said it was a great catchup.
Headed out to see Carl Wilson @ Blackmans Bikes @ Parramatta tomorrow (my first sponsor back in about 1979). I'll make sure I let them know I'm out there because they are sponsoring the site here ... damn I know I'll end up buying a bike too!!! hahahahah
Thanks again.

Welcome aboard AJ. Nice on the JMC's mate. If you ever want to sell either give me a hoy. In the mean time there is a member here by the name of JMCGT (Matt) who can give you all the info you need, he is a genius. Give him a PM and tell him your story.
Cheers Adrian
