This is not a debate, but I would like to hear from other people on what bikes they liked or infuenced them.

Here's my 2 cents.

Mid 70's - Had a Dragster for my first bike
Late 70's - Built my first BMX with a (dragster) f/f pinched from my sister & added my own parts.
1980 Got my MK1 quicky WOW
After that bikes I saw (as I was not a racer) & liked were
MK 2 Redline
Diamond back
Mongoose & 1 kid had a Supergoose
Repco mono shock (heavy as)

Unfortuately i didn't get to see Rippers, Hutches & GT's as most of my youth was spent up bush tracks & not up the bmx track.

First bike 1971...Super Elliot 24 inch with coaster brake, I wore it out by the time I was 12 then I got an old repco (i think) dragster frame, saved for ages and got tange forks gooseneck and some nice grips, mate welded a gusset in and I made a solid steel post in metalwork at school.  Rattle can black and rode it forever, dad chucked it in tip when i left home Sad
Wanted a supermax but couldnt afford it.

i got my first bike as a birthday pressie..a brand spankin new Raliegh TUFF Burner...... man , i loved that bike!

1988 moved to AUS and never saw it again... Cry

untill eatlier this year when i came across a F/F, which is now sitting in the garage waiting for the funds /parts to build her up as i remember her..
dont really remember many others from my childhood, im pretty sure they were  all P.O.S.

my favourite bike as a kid was a early 90's Robinson... managed to get hold of one for not alot of money in january this year, and the obsession has grown from there  Wink

During the years I was involved in bmx with my kids (late 70s and early 80s), I got to see, sell and at times ride a lot of different bikes. The original ProSight impressed me quite a bit, but I would have to the best bikes I seen in my time were the 81 to 83 GT 20 inch and the GT crusiers, both 24 and 26 inch models.
There were a lot of prettier looking bikes than the GT, bikes such as the JMC and PK Rippers but the GT had that special racey look about it. Hutch to me was a overrated bike. I know this will upset a lot of people and collectors and start WW4 but to me all the rest were just pretty average as old school bmx bikes go.

Cheers Warren

My first bike wasn't until I was 13. I was a late starter. It was a Malvern Star road bike. I still like road bikes but can't hack the spandex..
All my mates at school had MX'ed Dragsters. I wanted one so bad. I got a Bratz dragster 2 years ago and now thats done. It's goin soon. I never ride it   Huh?
My dream bike was a PK Ripper. I remember the Kashimax ad in the mags and wanted a ball burnished PK. I got one eventually in 82 and it was crap. I sold it in 87.
I was a huge fan of Tinker Juarez and loved his Mongoose shots with Motomags. Also Jeff Watson had a mongoose and that inspired me even more. I had to have one. Now I have 4. All have Tuffs (  Kiss Phil)
I always liked the Quadangle too. I was lucky enough to find a 07 retro Quad (Thanks Sean) and now I'm happy.

Well not sure i'm quite old school but here goes -
My first bike in the late 70's was a Roadking dragster, which some older lads reckoned I couldn't ride a bike with Roadking on it unless I passed their initiation, I came close (to killing myself that is Cry !)

In about 81 I got my first bmx a Voodoo (noname with aftermarket cobra grips and a numberplate) awesome I loved that beast until I found out it was a boat anchor when I started racing in about 85.

Next was an old Diamondback frame and forks in about 1986 I found in the neighbours yard and scored for a song. I built her up with the parts from the Voodoo then slowly got araya rims, kashimax seat etc etc.

Then in 87 I was getting a little more serious and decided to get a complete Kuwahara from a local guy that was pretty good (Shane Keene).

Next in early 88 I got a complete Tajh also from Shane which was an awsome bike and would love another if anyone has one. I remember when I got it I couldn't sleep, I had it in the laundry and I just kept getting up and going to look at it. It was long and low with chrome on chrome the whole shebang!

Then late 88 I had a brief encounter with a Boss Freestyle which lasted about 2 months...... until I decided racing was for me and scored a sponsorship deal with the local bike shop and they got me a team Boss F&F and a Boss race suit which I still have. This was a good solid bike with some of the gear from the Tajh and a few new bits like big arse Revcore bars, Beartrap pedals, Boss Alloy headstem and Boss cranks. I also wish I still had this "my last race bike". I have been trying to find her but in the mean time I do have another Boss with exactly the same F&F but not mine if you know what I mean, it has 1 piece Takagi cranks, DX pedals, Peregrine clamp, old round looking Araya rims and Robinson Bars. If all else fails and I dont track the original, I am searching for the parts.

I tried the MTB thing in about 2003 a shiny new alloy Avanti, but Iv'e decided that gears and shocks are not for me (unless it has an engine, but that's another story, for another forum) so it lives in the shed for visitors etc.

Last but not least I just purchased a yellow and black Gary Fischer (never heard of them till I bought it so who knows what it's like) which I am off to collect at chrissy from my brothers in Hervey Bay.

What I really loved from the late 80's was Bullseye hubs and GT's for some reason probably because I never had them.

I was mainly a Diamond Back boy during the early part of my racing. I loved them then and still love them now. I had 3 DB's. I also have a special place for MT Racing's UFO as this was me best gig as a rider. The bike had good geometry and handled really well.

When i was 12 years old my dad bought a second hand brokeback dragster which was in bad nick...the banana seat was broken in half and everything was rusty....that was my first bike; quickly transformed into the most fun i ever had!! a set of moto bars and a set of tange tx1200 pinched dropout forks and i was set for chuncks out of my ankles and knees LOL.
About 12 rewelds later dad figured it was easier to buy me a BMX frame...that also got welded up quite a few times so then it was a Pro Cobra...from there i didnt look back owning bikes ranging from Redline MXII's and so on but that old Dragster would have to be one of my faves Smiley
