HUTCH Rules!!
« on: April 01, 2008, 10:11:44 PM »

I thought I might get some debate going. What do reckon was the best Freestyler BITD?

My mates rides of choice was the good old GT Pro Performer and I thought they were a great looking bike and tough due to the hiding the boys use to give them.

The other rides I remember were the Hutch, Haro and Skyways. The crew around Townsville tricked on the flat, rode a Quarter pipe and a couple of lads built a half pipe in one of their backyards.

The CW Z frame was not good on the Quarter pipe!!!!!

The only freestyle bike i ever had is my 89 Haro Master which did most things well but my favorite bike that i kitted out with pegs ect was a Redline ST20, i felt so much more comfortable on that than i did on the haro but at the time the haro was way cooler for bragging rights. The bike i allways wanted to get and still do is the General Ozborne it looked way cool with its graphics and the team ridders allways seemed to be that much more hip.
I liked the look of the GT's but could never understand why they didnt build a dedicated freestyler like the haro. The GT allways looked like it was a racer with everything bolted on. The one thing the haro did well was take abuse on the platfoms and pegs where as the aftermarket pegs ect i had on the redline which were the same as what GT used had a tendancy to bend.

Good topic.
Mongoose Supergoose wins hands down! lol My bitd freestyle didn't exist. My goose served duty in FiveDock Skatepark and Ryde. If you had a front brake you were a freestyler!
I've heard some horror stories about Performers breaking off at the headtube but they do look cool.
I'd have to vote for the Haro Master. Time honoured winner.

I had a first gen Haro Freestyler which was great. Steep head tube for it's day, but it was a little short. I then moved to a GT Pro Performer, which I found definately more rideable, ie flatland, street and bowls etc.

Hey Phill i think our mums must be related. I allways wanted the brand name stuf but allways ended up with home grown gear. I look back at it now and realise how cool that was.
